Cogne

Facing the wide Sant’Orso meadows, Cogne is located at 1544 masl and it’s one of the Italian valleys where the Gran Paradiso National Park develops. This is the oldest protected area in Italy and was established around King Vittorio Emanuele II’s royal hunting base in order to safeguard the ibex, the symbol of the Park. The Gran Paradiso, 4061 meters high, is the only entirely Italian peak above 4000 meters and the shape of its Tribolazione glacier defines this destination landscape. Cogne was once an important minerary center for iron extraction and is now an Alpine Pearl thanks to the adopted sustainable tourism strategies. Popular holiday destination, Cogne is a calm and welcoming place, particularly appreciated for its authentic and high quality hospitality always with an eye on environmental preservation.
